Hey guys I've been looking through the bulletin board. I'm looking to buy a used compact tractor to mow, finish and bushog along with possibly buy a grader box and also be able to plow my 600' gravel drive in the winter and then grade it in the spring. I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions on what to buy and what to watch for in regards to mechanically sound tractors. I have very little tractor knowledge, But I'm pretty mechanically inclined. Thanks in Advance. Matt

Read some of the old messages! I have a JD4100 and plow and grade a private road thatis 1/2 mile long. I had problems finding a decent used compact. They are justhard to find and the resale is very high because of it. I looked at it this way:The price of tractors always goes up. If the resale is good then the investment is good.I figured if I liked the tractor I would keep it for 30 years just like the farmall cubs you see around! So I decided to take the bite and just get it over with. I have a new tractor, 2 year warrentyand I know what it has been through. Also you would be suprised at what the Low end compact tractors can do!! ....
